CEA Releases Study of MtBE Contamination in New Hampshire

West Boylston, MA (January 3, 2008) - Corporate Environmental Advisors, Inc. (CEA), a leading environmental management firm serving the New England market for more than 22 years, today released a study regarding MtBE (known as Methyl tert-Butyl Ether) contamination in New Hampshire.  The study, conducted by James Tarr, Regional Manager of CEA's New Hampshire office and Adam Galonski, Senior Geologist with CEA, was presented in November of 2007 at the National Groundwater Association conference in Texas.  According to Mr. Tarr, "The results indicate that since New Hampshire banned MtBE in January 2007, contamination is decreasing.  However, given the geology of the state, it will remain in the groundwater for a long time to come."  The study was based on 25 known gasoline contaminated sites in New Hampshire.

"We released this study following the announcement this week by the New Hampshire Department of Environmental Services of a study demonstrating widespread MtBE contamination throughout the state in both public and private drinking water wells," said Mr. Tarr.  Their study was conducted by the U.S. Geological Survey.  The state's news release can be found at: http://m1e.net/c?56719189-VyJP7I/BM3J/M%403009167-eWppdI6k6Ojes

CEA handles groundwater remediation as well as aquifer protection.
