Geothermal Heat Pump LoopsTired of paying for high heating and cooling bills? Drilex can provide your home or commercial building with a geothermal heat pump. Geothermal heat pumps use the relatively constant temperature of soil as a heat source. Geothermal heat pumps are considered the most energy-efficient, environmentally clean, and cost-effective space conditioning system available. How do they work? The soil in the Northeast remains at a constant 52 degrees Fahrenheit all year long. This makes it an ideal source for heating and cooling buildings with a ground-source heating system. How are they built? Vertical holes 150 to 450 feet deep - much like wells - are bored in the ground. A single loop of pipe with a U-bend at the bottom is inserted and then the hole is backfilled. Each vertical pipe is then connected to a horizontal underground pipe that carries fluid to and from an indoor exchange unit. These are the typical applications for a geothermal heat pump:
Our equipment allows us to drill from shallow depths to in excess of 500 feet. Our in-house fabrication facility and our shop personnel's extensive experience enable Drilex to design and build special equipment to tackle any task. |
